In association with five other area churches, its mission is to provide emergency or supplemental food assistance to area families and individuals in need.

Each year the food shelf assembles and distributes Christmas baskets containing a turkey or a ham and all the trimmings for a Christmas dinner to area families.

The food shelf is open Monday and Thursday evenings from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and is located in the Parish Hall of the Church of the Good Shepherd. Telephone is 518-873-6521.

It serves about 1800 people annually, distributing more than 30,000 pounds of food. Many volunteers donate their time to the food shelf serving in a variety of capacities.
